Recently, the American Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) released the latest forecast data report.
The association expects US tire shipments to increase by about 1% year-on-year in 2018.
USTMA said that the total shipments of the US tire market this year will increase to 319.8 million. In 2017, its sales were 316.7 million.
The association did not give specific analysis on the relevant factors.
Global Excel Tyres learned that this latest forecast is slightly different from April. USTMA expected at the time that US annual tire shipments would increase by 0.8% to 319.1 million.
According to the data provided by USMAT, the shipment volume of truck and bus tires is the growth engine of this year.
The industry organization expects that in 2018, the original shipments of US passenger and passenger car tires will increase by 13.4% to 6.2 million; replacement market shipments will increase by 2.7% to 20.2 million.
At the same time, passenger car tire replacement sales are expected to increase by 1.5 million to 211.2 million, an increase of 0.7%; light truck replacement tire shipments may decline by 0.3% to 31.2 million.
In addition, the original shipments of passenger car tires in the United States will increase by 1.5% to 45.9 million; the original delivery of light trucks will fall by 5.6%, from 5.4 million to 5.1 million.
the American Tire Manufacturers Association has 12 member companies. They operate 57 tire factories in the United States, with annual sales exceeding $27 billion, accounting for about 82% of the above shipments.
